A cobalt chromium partial denture has a precision cast metal framework. This denture is lighter, thinner, stronger and does not encroach upon the tongue space. Teeth can be added to it in the future and it can be repaired (welded). A cobalt chromium partial denture will last decades if the natural remaining teeth are properly restored and oral hygiene is high. The framework, if still suitable for the dentition, can also be remodelled and rebuilt with new teeth and acrylic. Titanium and gold-based metals can also be used for partial denture frameworks.
