Missing or broken teeth can really ruin your game or training session. A custom fitted mouth guard is the best way to protect your teeth.
Your teeth are so important for many reasons – your smile, being able to talk and eat!
Although we can help you when you have lost teeth, it’s far better to protect your teeth from damage in the first place. Whether your sport is considered ‘contact’ or not, many sports involve a risk of damage to the mouth. Custom fitted mouth guards are the best protection for your teeth while playing the games you love.
A mouth guard is a type of material shaped to your teeth, designed to be worn temporarily over your teeth as an extra layer of protection. If you’ve tried mouth guards in the past, you might think they are inflexible, bulky and uncomfortable. The Denture Clinic’s custom fitted mouth guards are actually soft and spongy – making them very comfortable to wear.
We recommend wearing a mouth guard during sport or similar high-impact activities when there is a risk of impact to the mouth or face which may cause dental trauma.
Remember accidents can happen at any time. You should wear your mouth guard for both playing and training to protect your teeth as much as possible.
The common types of problems we see from accidents to the mouth include fractured or chipped teeth, loss of teeth, gum damage, damage to teeth requiring tooth extraction and injury to the soft tissue of your mouth. Custom fitted mouth guards can minimise this risk, meaning that your teeth and mouth are protected if an accident occurs. The mouth guard’s spongy material helps to absorb any impact and prevents the top and bottom of your teeth from slamming together.
If you have some gaps in your mouth from missing teeth, partial dentures are a cost-effective option to restore your smile.
The cost of partial dentures will depend on the type of denture and how many teeth are being replaced. See our Pricing page for more information.
Advances in denture technology mean that after some initial adjustments most people are comfortable wearing partial dentures.
You can enjoy a wide variety of foods and feel more confident in all aspects of your life. You will need to look after your partial denture and have regular checks with your dental prosthetist to check for any wear and tear. We recommend having your partial dentures relined every two years to ensure a comfortable fit.
