Our experienced team makes every denture procedure a positive experience. Our process is designed to create dentures you’ll love to wear.
Our first appointment together is all about you. We talk about your teeth, discuss your needs and what you hope to achieve before making a plan to achieve a great outcome. All basis are covered. Your treatment plan, your expected costs, any health fund rebates, what to expect and how your teeth will look at the end of the process.
After you have made the decision to start treatment, your second appointment is all about your teeth. We measure your mouth, take any moulds and get choosing your new teeth shade and sizing. You might want to match your old smile exactly or choose a different look. We will go through all the options together at this measure up stage.
The third appointment is where things get exciting. At this stage, you will see a wax replica of your final denture. This gives you a chance to see the denture before it is finalised and make any changes if needed. This stage also allows your dental prosthetist to make sure we are 100% happy with what we see, focusing on both look and function of the denture.
The day you’ve been waiting for – collection day. At your fourth appointment, you’ll be fitted with your new set of dentures to take home and start wearing straight away. This also marks the beginning of your settling in period. Talking and eating will take time to feel normal. How long this takes is different for everyone*. Be patient and persevere and it will get better.
*in some cases a 5th and/or 6th appointment is required before they are issued to assure we have things done right
After you’ve been wearing your new denture for approx. 1 week, you’ll come back to the clinic for a review appointment. This appointment is very important as it allows us to get your feedback, check the denture and do any minor adjustments if necessary. We can also share tips and tricks for settling in and taking the best possible care of your denture.
Your new denture has been carefully fitted to your existing teeth and bone structure. It’s important to check your denture regularly for any signs of damage and follow all care instructions. You will need to visit the clinic for a denture reline every two to four years to extend the life of your denture. With correct care and maintenance, your denture will last for many years.
